There were heroes and high hopes Saturday at the 38th annual benefit auction for the Boys & Girls Club of the Santa Clarita Valley. "Lighting our Future - a Black and White Benefit" garnered nearly $235,000 to help fund operations, said Jim Ventress, chief professional officer of the club which operates three facilities for SCV youth.

Little Shepherd's Nursery School in Newhall recently celebrated its 42nd graduation on Friday.

Education has always been the passion of the Xi Nu Zeta chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority in the Santa Clarita Valley. It shouldn't be a surprise because most of the members are retired school teachers.
