Riley Weinstein dances to a beat of her own

Overcoming obstacles is not something Riley Weinstein, 16, will walk through. Instead, she dances over them. Weinstein, a Junior at Canyon High School, suffered a traumatic, life-altering brain injury at the age of 2 1/2, when a large tumor was removed from the base of her brain, leaving her paralyzed.

A new flock of Eagle Scouts

Boy Scout Troop 609 of Newhall recently celebrated the advancement of four of its members to Eagle Scout. John Morris, Gabriel Sayegh, Jr., Michael Morris and Neil Subbarao, all William S. Hart High School students, or former students, were awarded the rank of Eagle, the highest rank achievable in the Boy Scouts. The ceremony was attended by friends, family and fellow troop members.
