Convicted driver to undergo 90-day review

A 68-year-old man who entered a plea of no contest Tuesday to the felony charge of leaving the scene of an accident has been ordered to undergo a 90-day review in state prison, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office confirmed.

Felony and repeat misdemeanor DUI offenders are over represented in traffic crashes involving alcohol or other drugs, often with tragic results. The Los Angeles Probation Department will be making sure that these worst-of-the-worst offenders are complying with all court orders by means of a new traffic safety grant. The $268,000 grant was awarded by the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
