For the second time in less than a month, an employee with the William S. Hart Union High School District has been put on administrative leave for alleged inappropriate contact with a student. In a news release issued by district spokeswoman Pat Willett, the district says it is "currently investigating allegations of inappropriate contact between an employee and a student. The staff member has been placed on administrative leave pending results of the investigation."

When a drought dried up the well at pioneer Sulphur Springs School in Sand Canyon in 1931, Leona Cox came to the aid of students by hauling five-gallon cans of water to the school in her Overland touring car. Jonathan Feenny of Reseda was arrested Saturday in connection with the theft of metal pieces from a Newhall metal yard, according to a sheriff's official. Lt. Tom Bryski of the SCV Sheriff's Station said around 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feenny, 45, allegedly stole metal pieces from a business near The Old Road and Weldon Canyon Road in Newhall. After loading his truck with the goods, the man drove to a San Fernando Valley recycling shop to collect money for the pieces.
