UPDATE: Three-car crash proves fatal
A three-car crash in Canyon Country killed one and seriously injured two others early this morning, according to a California Highway Patrol official.
DUI checkpoint nets one arrest, multiple violations
The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station screened more than 900 vehicles and made one arrest during an eight-hour DUI and driver's license checkpoint Friday night through Saturday morning.

The criminal incidents included residential/vehicle burglaries, grand theft auto and a few petty thefts/shoplifting from local businesses. One residential burglary occurred on the 23500 block of Via Barra during an unknown period of time. Items stolen were a guitar and a Bose Radio sound dock. San Fernando Valley – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close the following lanes, ramps, and connectors of the Golden State Freeway (I-5) and the Ventura Freeway (SR-134) as part of a $57.8 million improvement project to construct High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV or carpool) lanes in each direction along I-5 between SR-134 and Magnolia Boulevard. Closures are subject to change. Detours will be signed.
