Man arrested for allegedly stealing metal in Newhall

Jonathan Feenny of Reseda was arrested Saturday in connection with the theft of metal pieces from a Newhall metal yard, according to a sheriff's official. Lt. Tom Bryski of the SCV Sheriff's Station said around 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feenny, 45, allegedly stole metal pieces from a business near The Old Road and Weldon Canyon Road in Newhall. After loading his truck with the goods, the man drove to a San Fernando Valley recycling shop to collect money for the pieces.

First Amendment Scholarship applications being accepted

The application package for the 12th Annual Randy Wicks Memorial First Amendment Scholarship is now available to graduating local high school seniors and students at College of the Canyons. Program aims to generate interest in college

Some local junior high students got a taste of college life Friday when they visited College of the Canyons. The visit was part of COC's "College, Making It Happen" program, which is designed to get seventh and eighth graders to start thinking about college and lifetime careers.
