Bridgeport Elementary, Castaic Middle School and Saugus High School were the winners of the month-long Be Cool to My School Test-Drive Rally that ended Sunday.
Supe, props on ballot today
In 1980, Michael D. Antonovich did something that has not been done since - unseated an incumbent county supervisor. Today, as voters head to the ballot box, Antonovich hopes he will not be unseated and that the electorate of the fifth supervisorial district will keep him in office for another term.
Teacher put on leave
A teacher at West Ranch High School is on administrative leave while school officials investigate allegations that the teacher had inappropriate contact with a student. The Hart high school district's human resources director, Rochelle Neal, said she could not confirm the teacher's identity Monday, citing the need to protect the privacy and identities of both parties.
Two local men killed in auto collisions
Two local men died in separate traffic collisions this weekend. Antonio Galvan Jr., 28, of Stevenson Ranch, was killed when his vehicle overturned on Interstate 5 south of the Newhall Pass early Sunday morning.

Man stabbed in Canyon Country
A 22-year-old man was reportedly stabbed in the chest or torso area Saturday evening in the Cordova Estates Mobile Home park. According to Lt. Mark Hershey of the Santa Clarita Sheriff's Station, the incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. in the 27300 block of Sierra Highway. More than 50 meet 'Dog Whisperer'
More than 50 fans of dog behavior specialist Cesar Millan lined up at a Valencia bistro Saturday to catch the Dog Whisperer during a book signing. Millan, a Santa Clarita resident, is currently in the midst of bringing his Dog Psychology Center to the local area as a means of educating dog owners about caring for their pets.

Within a year, GPS technology will bring interactive electronic maps to some of the city's bus stops to give bus riders real-time updates on how long they will need to wait for their bus. The Santa Clarita City Council this week gave the green light to hire New Zealand-based consultant Connexionz to install a transit information network on the city's entire 81-vehicle fleet.
Relay for Life will net nearly $500,000
Thousands of individuals impacted by cancer gathered at Central Park on Saturday for the record-setting 10th annual Santa Clarita Valley Relay for Life. The American Cancer Society sponsored event, known as "A Passport to Hope," included 109 teams, plus dozens of visitors and volunteers, to fight for the cause and raise money for research, according to Candy Spahr, one of the three event chairpersons.

Two Fox bills approved in Assembly
(SACRAMENTO) Assemblymember Steve Fox (D-Palmdale) today announced that Assembly Bills (AB) 588 and 631 were approved by the State Assembly with broad bipartisan support. The bills address protection of student athletes and enhance core education for children in juvenile court schools. Both measures passed by a margin of 70-0, and now advance to the Senate.
