SCV Youth Orchestra gets county donation

The Santa Clarita Valley Youth Orchestra received $1,500 from the office of L.A. County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich, which will provide support for the orchestra's instrumentation education program aimed at students eight years and older.

Book fair to benefit local museum

Barnes & Noble will host a book fair this Saturday and Sunday to benefit William S. Hart Museum. Museum volunteers will be on hand with a free bug show from the Natural History Museum's collection. Museum vouchers presented at checkout will provide 20 percent to the museum.

Hospital hosts blood drive

Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital is asking for volunteers willing to donate blood during its Pie for a Pint blood drive from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday. Donors will receive a freshly baked pumpkin pie. The 12-hour blood drive will be held in the Henry Mayo/COC Clinical Education Center on the hospital's campus, 25727 McBean Parkway.
