Two-year-old Injured in Collision Involving Alcohol

A Palmdale woman was arrested Thursday morning after driving her vehicle off the side of the freeway near Canyon Country, severely injuring her two-year-old son, whose child seat was not properly secure.

Angela Bass, 41, was driving a Chevrolet on northbound Highway 14 near Sand Canyon Road around 12:15 a.m. when her vehicle veered in lanes, hit the center divider and subsequently went off the side of the freeway into a steep, sloping dirt embankment. Deputies Fire on Vandalism Suspects

Sheriff's deputies opened fire on and arrested three Canyon Country men after observing one of them vandalizing a wall, five days after another deputy-involved shooting. There were no reported injuries.

Valencia Man Sentenced to Federal Prison

Valencia resident Keith Gilabert, 33, received a five-year sentence from U.S. District Judge Stephen Wilson for orchestrating the scheme, federal sources reported on Monday evening that . Gilabert was the founder of an investment company and was sentenced to federal prison terms Monday for a hedge fund fraud scheme that bilked investors out of at least $2.5 million. He got the maximum sentence under the law.
