Power failure strikes Newhall
Nearly 24,000 homes and businesses near downtown Newhall suffered through a power outage when a substation failed just after 12 noon on Sunday, according to Southern California Edison. The affected area also included portions of the Summit in Valencia, Circle J Ranch and Stevenson Ranch.

A 2-year-old boy is being treated for injuries after he fell and nearly drowned in a pool at his Saugus home on Sunday afternoon. County air tower closures granted temporary reprieve
LOS ANGELES COUNTY – Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich released today the attached letter from the Federal Aviation Administration announcing that it will no longer close Los Angeles County's air traffic control towers. Congress passed the "Reducing Flight Delays Act of 2013" act which allows the FAA to transfer funding from other accounts to keep the nation's 149 contract towers open.
