Arriano to serve multiple consecutive 25-year-to-life sentences

SAN FERNANDO -- Judge Barbara Scheper sentenced Adrian Arriano to 21 consecutive 25-to-life sentences, and an additional life sentence today in San Fernando Superior Court for raping two Canyon Country women and breaking into a Newhall woman's apartment in 2007.

State Legislature supports gay marriage challenge

SACRAMENTO (AP) -- Both houses of the state Legislature passed resolutions Monday endorsing the legal effort to overturn California's same-sex marriage ban, just days before the issue goes to the state Supreme Court.

The resolutions passed along party lines, 18-14 in the Senate and 45-27 in the Assembly, with several members absent in both chambers.
