Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Barbara Boxer (D-CA) and Susan Collins (R-ME) today praised the Senate Judiciary Committee's vote to approve their legislation to strengthen school safety by helping state and local officials secure their campuses and protect students.
Santa Clarita offers emergency response training program
The City of Santa Clarita is offering a seven-week Community Emergency Response Training (CERT) program designed to teach residents basic survival skills in preparation for disasters such as earthquakes, fires, floods, hazardous incidents, and other life-threatening situations. The CERT Spring session will take place on Thursday nights from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. beginning Thursday, April 4, through May 16, 2013.

New fence in Hart Park in Newhall
County and city officials gathered at Hart Park in Newhall Monday to dedicate the $1 million fence erected around the park. Workers spent nearly six months replacing its old chain-link fence with one made of stucco pilasters and wrought-iron fencing.
