City ponders $1.2M property purchase
In its quest to clear the way for a new library in Newhall, the city of Santa Clarita is hoping to finalize the purchase of a 6,200 square feet of property along Spruce Street. On Tuesday, the City Council will consider giving staff the green light to spend $1.2 million to buy the property and 3,000-square-foot building currently occupied by White Light Chiropractic at 24519 Spruce St. in downtown Newhall.
Three arrested after allegedly dealing drugs
Community complaints came to a head this week when sheriff's deputies conducted a probation sweep and arrested three men suspected of dealing drugs out of a Newhall residence.

With Memorial Day weekend around the corner, the cost for a gallon of regular unleaded gas hit $4 this week in the Santa Clarita Valley, according to a weekly gas survey by Randy Cressall, owner of Valencia Auto Spa. The average cost of a gallon of regular unleaded stands at $4, according to the survey conducted Thursday.
Hart District audit: Looks good this time
A performance audit found the Hart district in compliance with the requirements of the Proposition 39 and Measure V requirements during the fiscal year ending June 30, 2007. Special education students don't always feel comfortable attending their school prom, so ASB students at Valencia High School are holding a prom just for them, complete with dinner, a DJ and dancing.
