A burning Volvo ignited a five-acre grass fire along Interstate 5 north of Lake Hughes Road at 11:23 a.m. Thursday morning, forcing closure of two southbound lanes and snarling traffic for nearly 90 minutes.

L.A. County signs contract with new trash hauler

Stevenson Ranch and Castaic residents will have a new trash hauler beginning in November. Burrtec Waste Industries, Inc. will provide services to 15,000 customers in the Santa Clarita Valley's unincorporated areas starting on Nov. 1. The company will be under contract with Los Angeles County. Closures coming to I-5 through the Santa Clarita Valley

Santa Clarita - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) plans to close the lanes listed below as part of a $72 million project that is constructing a truck lane on southbound I-5 between Pico Canyon Road/Lyons Avenue and the Antelope Valley Freeway (SR-14).
