Emergency vehicles have the right-of-way

Who died and made Bobb sheriff?

I honestly don't recall electing Merrick Bobb as sheriff. I pay more than $500 a month for my HMO health insurance plan and often have to wait weeks to see a doctor. That's only if I get authorization for my referral.

A message about oil for our elected officials

Below is a letter that I have sent to Gov. Schwarzenegger, Sens. Boxer, and Feinstein, and Reps. McKeon, George Runner, and Strickland. I'm hoping it will stir people from their slumber (if the gas and food prices haven't already) and encourage them to make their voices heard in Sacramento and Washington.

Wilk goes against voter wants

I received correspondence from Scott Wilk recently saying why he didn't support SB 27, which requires nonprofit organizations to disclose the names, addresses and employers of donors of $1,000 or more when their funds are used to make contributions or expenditures of more than $50,000 in any one year, or more than $100,000 over four years.

Billboards and the need for speed

I just read Councilman Bob Kellar's "Blight of Billboards" in the Feb. 23 Opinion section of The Signal, wherein Mr. Kellar strongly endorses the idea of trading the removal of 118 billboards in the city for the installation of three large electronic billboards along Highway 14 and Interstate 5.
