I e-mailed this letter to Senators Boxer and Feinstein. I also sent it to the Governor. The "political football" of drilling for oil wherever it is in the United States is a typical example of the cynicism of the left.
I am writing in response to The Signal's July 11 story "County Frets Over Foster Freeze." California's foster children did not create our state's budget crisis and should not carry the burden of the failings of their elders. Balancing the budget on the backs of abused and neglected children flies in the face of our commitment to provide quality care for our state's most vulnerable citizens.
I wanted to compliment The Signal on its general improvement. The-Signal.com is especially impressive.
I congratulate you on Monday, July 14's front page. The Signal senior and possibly the only weekend writer Jim Holt rules the front page.
I am responding to Don Gately's letter of July 17. Our society was founded on traditional values. Those values are a foundation that holds us together.
Do I believe that government should impose restrictions on SUV owners for contributing to the oil scarcity problem by driving their gas-guzzling Leviathans? By all means, no.
Being a resident directly next door to the Smiser Mule Ranch parcel, it grieves me that the city would even consider this an eligible site for an "urban center." In other words, another shopping center.
I am writing regarding the appointment of Frank Ferry's secretary to the parks commission. The only information we have been given regarding her abilities and background in parks and recreation is that she has been Mr. Ferry's secretary for the past number of years and seems to be good at that job.
I am writing this letter to show support for the master-planned expansion project at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital. I side with the overwhelming majority of community leaders who support this project.
What has happened to our government? If I remember correctly, we are supposed to be for and by the people, not for the person who can raise the most money and make empty promises.
I am writing to comment on Stephen Winkler's July 3 submission entitled "Budget Cuts" and the subsequent online response from a reader who dismissed Mr. Winkler's assessment that budget cuts are not a partisan or ideological issue because they impact all Californians, including our seniors and children.
I am speaking from experience. I was driven to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in an ambulance about three weeks ago.
Thank you for the recent article about the many options for swimming lessons here in Santa Clarita ("The benefits of summer swim lessons," July 15).
I am appalled at the stupidity of drivers on the road. The vehicle code requires that when an emergency vehicle comes upon your car with sirens and/or lights flashing, to PULL TO THE RIGHT!
Year after year, cities across the state adopt balanced budgets in a timely manner, being careful to spend within their means.
Although I am not a Catholic, I greatly admire our newest pope, Pope Francis, because more so than all the other popes, Pope Francis is out for the poor and the destitute.
"I am in the past," L.A. County Sheriff LeRoy Baca said Tuesday at his forced retirement news conference.
I'm sure many parade watchers had different reactions to the gay wedding ceremony at last week's Rose Parade aboard the AIDS Healthcare Foundation float.
Hey, there is some sanity in the SCV!
The United States of America is not the Super Power or economic giant that it used to be. It pains me to say this, but we have fallen behind the Peoples Republic of China.
Disney's Golden Oak Ranch in Placerita Canyon is going to be an enormous boost to the economy of the Santa Clarita Valley.
I have to honestly admit that I thought that I would never witness Twiddle Dee and Twiddle Dum at work.
Regarding the Dec. 18 front-page story "Online petition seeks to honor Walker, Rodas" regarding an "out of area" petition to rename Hercules Drive in memory of Paul Walker and Roger Rodas:
I completely agree with Ms. Arenson's letter from Dec. 23 ("No street name changes for Walker, Rodas") opposing the petition to rename Hercules Street in Valencia to Walker/Rodas Memorial Way.
Debate flared quickly over Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson's interview for GQ magazine.
In response to a recent letter to the editor regarding Santa Clarita's purchasing policies, I wanted to correct a few misstatements.
Veterans get slapped in the face!
This letter is written in agreement with the letter from Betty Arenson pertaining to the deaths of two otherwise fine men who recently died "An open letter to the city of Santa Clarita," Dec. 23).
I read Steve Lunetta's column concerning the "global warming" issue ("The Arctic is ice-free!" Dec. 23.) Lunetta nailed it.
I read Kevin Buck's column in The Signal ("Obama keeps calm," Dec. 10), and I simply have to respond.
