I wholeheartedly endorse Diane for City Council. I have never met anyone who does the homework necessary to make important decisions like Diane. She reads background material and actually listens to perspectives of those who will be impacted by her decisions. Trautman speaks for seniors
To The Editor: The city of Santa Clarita has evolved over the past two decades with worthy expansion and development. As we move toward the future, though, the viability of our infrastructure will depend on those who recognize balance between our social and economic needs. Until now, the needs of our senior population have largely been ignored.
They should know better
To The Editor: It seems "fashionable" for some members of Santa Clarita's City Council to claim stupidity when they get caught with their hand in the cookie jar. It appears as though all a person has to say when they get caught is: "I'm sorry, I didn't know the law," or "I may have violated state law."
Kellar's above reproach
The Signal's recent reporting of Mayor Bob Kellar's omissions on state disclosure forms is unnecessarily slanted to suggest these omissions are nefarious, versus mistakes or oversights.
A vote for Trautman
To The Editor: Your vote on April 8, for the City Council election is important. It is the opportunity to support leaders who carry your vision, share your values, reflect your ideas and thoughts about the needs of the city of Santa Clarita, and demonstrate a willingness to listen to constituents.

Mayo expansion as bad as Las Lomas
To The Editor: What struck me while reading a recent article about Las Lomas was a quote from our own Lisa Hardy. Lisa is one of many who "rightfully" oppose this proposed development. Her quote in the article was, "It is so grossly incompatible with its surroundings, it violates every principle of urban planning."
Save the Oak trees
To the Editor: We are writing in response to the Gates-King industrial project. We read this morning that this project, which has been approved, will mean the removal of 1,400 oak trees. If even half that number are removed, it is entirely too much. Recently, we the voters approved raising our taxes in order to create open space around our city. Yacht tax?
To The Editor: :In Ms. Wright's letter ("Republicans: Foes of Education," March 14, 2008) she insinuates that the Hart School District budget deficit was caused by the Republicans' reluctance to do away with the so-called "Yacht Tax." It would be best to know exactly what this tax really is.

Fleeing business is big problem for California
Regarding Alice Khosravy's column "California is at bottom for business," (Feb. 22), Khosravy's excellent commentary was so clear and so factual citing a huge - if not t-h-e huge - problem that is at the core of California being on life support as a state, a once-thriving, enviable state.
Boy Scouts need to be accepting
The Boy Scouts of America need to allow gays into their organization because that is the moral imperative, if you will, toward "a more perfect union."
