I can’t take away someone’s rights

I am writing to discuss an issue that I feel compelled to bring up. Before I begin, I ask that you listen to all I have to say without social, political or cultural bias because I believe this is a universal offense, one that should be recognized by all parties and dealt with accordingly.

Zip it and hit it

I, for one, have had it with hearing about all the mega-multimillion-dollar contracts for sports' so-called "superstars."

Why isn't the media nuts over ACORN

If anyone doubts that the drive-by media is 99 percent in the tank for socialism, Barack Obama's candidacy in particular, one has only to follow the unfolding voter registration scandal in states like Ohio, Florida and North Carolina.

Regarding expansion of Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital: Did you ever see the number of buildings they want to put on that little piece of property? It's crazy.

What about our demonstration?

While I read The Signal's article "Cheers, jeers for protestors" with interest, I was quite disappointed with the one-sided coverage of the Proposition 8 demonstrations in the Santa Clarita. "Yes on 8!" volunteers held similar demonstrations on Oct. 19, on several major intersections around the valley, receiving both support and criticism.

Vasquez High failed student, family

The Vasquez High School principal states that Vasquez High School has a zero tolerance for bullies. If there truly was a zero tolerance policy in place, the bullying of the boy that committed suicide would not have continued on a daily basis.

Eliasberg's editorial is illogical

In response to the editorial "Snippets? Associations? Who is Barack Obama?" (The Signal, Oct. 24): Mr. Eliasberg leads what he believes is a logical response to Obama's political moves, such as his snippets argument and denial of guilt by association. While these methods may be politically motivated, we should also examine what Mr. Eliasberg says about Mr. Obama.

Hey, America, listen to Powell

Take heed, America, and listen to what Colin Powell, Secretary of State 2001-2005, retired general, and a Republican(!), had to say about why he is endorsing Barack Obama for President of the United States and why he is not endorsing John McCain.

Knotts is for fun, not politics

I was extremely disappointed at the skewed and ignorant political mockery that went on during the Knotts Scary stage shows.

Measure SA: Clarifying misapprehensions

In his Sept. 28 column, Tim Myers addresses the Measure SA bond without the benefit of contacting my office or me directly. I wish he had given me the opportunity to review Measure SA with him and clarify many of his assumptions.

Let's preserve the Constitution

Our democracy is not perfect. No democracy ever is.

Scrutinize Obama, not the plumber

I read the story that "Joe the Plumber" is not actually a licensed plumber. This guy asked a simple question and now he is being attacked.

City, take a stand against petition blockers

I know there are quite a few people in the SCV who can remember back to the '40s, '50s and '60s during the big strikes that some of the big companies had - and how violent they were.
