Message of holiday gratitude

This letter is for the person who found my purse. I accidentally left my purse in a shopping cart at the Ralphs in Castaic recently. I really want to thank whoever it was who found it and turned it in.

Punish the bullies

As I read the morning paper a few days ago, I was shocked at the story of a 14-year-old's suicide in our local school after much teasing by fellow students and nothing done about it.

Beware of the unfair tax scheme

Measure R is "Robin Hood in reverse" - it takes from the poor and gives to the rich.

Water softeners are the problem?

I read the letter from Maria Gutzeit in The Signal recently about Measure S and the "old style" water softeners.

My take, my votes on Nov. 4th propositions

Presidential election years are the World Cup for politics junkies, and this year has been one of the best ever. However, besides tracking all the important partisan races in the national and local spotlights, Californians are once again being asked to do their Legislature's job and vote on 12 ballot propositions.

Missed out on Castaic high school

After reading Jim Holt's article "Castaic High site picked," dated Oct. 16, I was reminded how long it has taken to select a site for the high school.

Obama’s dangerous health care plan

I watched the most recent debate between senators John McCain and Barack Obama. The most telling comment from Sen. Obama was how he is going to provide health care to the uninsured.

Don’t support inequality Tuesday

I am not willing to degrade my fellow adult human beings by denying their right to marry.

Support Measure SA

The vote for Measure SA will help our local schools stay at a level of excellence. This measure supports Santa Clarita Valley schools only. We should live and let live

Seems "Democrats" and others have something to learn about the "democratic process."

Someone stop the sign wielders

I don't know what is more annoying. Gavin Newsom's gravelly, whiny voice telling me gay marriage is gonna happen whether I like it or not, or the fundamentalists of SCV knocking on my door asking how I am going to vote.

Freedom of speech needs some curbs

Pastor Hegg's Sunday column "We don't have to think alike," is, as usual, rooted in fair-mindedness as he supports actions being legislated against, but not simply words.

Sliding down the slippery slope of speech sanctions

Pastor Hegg's column published in The Signal May 11, "We don't have to think alike," beautifully states my own concerns about the current situations when what people say is being used to destroy them financially and socially.
