More than 50 film students from four different high schools in the William S. Hart Union High School District raced against time to write, shoot, edit and score a two-to-five-minute film in just 12 hours as part of the annual "12 Hour Film Festival" on May 2.

Drama students have fun with Moliere

The Drama Department at Saugus High School will present "Moliere Impromptu," a new play by Rinne Goff, from May 20 to 23 in the multipurpose theater room on the Saugus campus. Curtain time is 4 p.m. today and 7 p.m. on Thursday through Saturday evenings.

Color guard takes home the gold

The Saugus High School color guard made history on April 18 by capturing the team's first gold medal at the Southern California Winter Guard Association Championships in Orange County. The Saugus color guard has captured several bronze medals in the past but has never taken home the gold medal until this competition.

Media Day teaches students about careers

High School Media Day at West Ranch High School provided an opportunity for students to learn more about careers in the entertainment industry. Students were divided into groups and given a schedule that included professionals in the specific fields they might like to pursue. In each hour-long session, presenters shared with the students their job histories and the techniques that each presenter used to attain their present job status.

Teens bring energy to hospital

Volunteering is nothing new to Hart High School junior Kathryn Rieck. In the past, she's helped at homeless shelters and built homes for the poor in Mexico. Now Rieck is serving closer to home by assisting staff and patients at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.
