Grizzlies pull off coaching coup

For a baseball team that finished 3-21 last season and winless at 0-14 in the Foothill League, Golden Valley has already caught a big fish in the baseball coaching world. Scott Drootin, a man who has 17 years of head coaching experience, was hired Friday to try and turn things around with the Grizzlies.

West Ranch wins tight five set match

West Ranch won one of its closest girls volleyball matches of the season on Friday in Hollywood, beating Campbell Hall, 25-18, 25-21, 20-25, 21-25, 15-10. Alison Summers had 17 kills. Sophia Burns had a good all-around match, with 14 kills, 26 assists and six blocks.

Brock Vereen, the younger brother of former Valencia High running back Shane, was at the forefront of the Vikings' 35-24 win over Palmdale High on Friday night at Paul Priesz Stadium.
