LOS ANGELES COUNTY - To ensure the health and well-being of the county's senior population, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a motion by Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich to encourage the Governor and State Health officials to require nursing homes to display publically their five-star rating issued by the Federal Government's Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Rep. Howard P. "Buck" McKeon (R-Santa Clarita) today is praising passage of S.22, the Omnibus Public Land Management Act of 2009, which includes McKeon's Eastern Sierra and Northern San Gabriel Mountains Wild Heritage Act and Mammoth Lake Community Water District language.
"I am pleased the Senate has recognized the need to set aside 470,000 acres of pristine wilderness in the 25th Congressional District," McKeon said. "This action ensures that these lands will be preserved for the use and enjoyment of future generations.
SACRAMENTO - Assemblyman Cameron Smyth, R-Santa Clarita, introduced Assembly Bill 110 Tuesday, and the proposed legislation would allow the owner of Elsmere Canyon in Los Angeles to explore the possibility of adding it to the Rim of the Valley Trail.
