Aircraft leased to Fire Department

Metrolink fees increased 6 percent
Santa Clarita Valley metro riders will begin paying more money to ride the train starting Thursday. In a meeting last week, Metrolink officials voted to increase fees by 6 percent to help balance a $16 million budget shortfall. The plan will raise an additional $3.2 million in fiscal year 2010-2011.

The Signal editorial ("Look out for criminally misleading junk mail," Feb. 28) stated that you will open your mailbox and there screaming at you will be a obnoxious piece of junk mail with the Signal headline, "Crime on the Rise in SCV," complete with the subtext: 2009 saw an increase in reports of several serious crimes..."

Three hurt in Alabama fuel barge explosions
MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - Multiple explosions aboard two fuel barges near Mobile, Ala., led to a major fire Wednesday night that left three people hospitalized with burns and created a situation so unstable that fire and rescue officials decided to let the fire burn into the night.
