Aircraft leased to Fire Department

Two SuperScooper fixed-wing aircraft have been leased to the Los Angeles County Fire Department to help protect county residents and property during fire season.

Metrolink fees increased 6 percent

Santa Clarita Valley metro riders will begin paying more money to ride the train starting Thursday. In a meeting last week, Metrolink officials voted to increase fees by 6 percent to help balance a $16 million budget shortfall. The plan will raise an additional $3.2 million in fiscal year 2010-2011.

COC hosts information meetings

College of the Canyons' Allied Health division will host a series of informational meetings to promote opportunities with the recently approved Medical Laboratory Technology program, which begins in the fall. The information sessions will be held at 4 p.m. on July 1 and 5 p.m. on July 7 in Aliso Lab 321 located at the COC Valencia campus. Each session will last about one hour and will include information about eligibility requirements, program prerequisites and the application process.
