Fire Station 156 under construction

Construction on Fire Station 156 continued this week. The station is scheduled to open later this year. Fire Station 156 is one three fire stations currently being built in the Santa Clarita Valley and is one of five that are planned for the SCV in the next few years, officials said.

Mars rover piques preschoolers' curiosity

Dennis Young, of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, brought a minature rover as part of JPL's education and public outreach program to Christ Lutheran Preschool in Valencia on Tuesday. The presentation, organized by preschool director Chris Porrazzo, included a life-size model of the rover Curiosity and a three-dimensional look at the Mars landscape.
