Life and times of James Dean presentation

The Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society will present The Life and Death of James Dean: Tracing His Last Day at 2 p.m., Feb. 28 at the Saugus Train Station at Heritage Junction, 24101 Newhall Avenue. The presentation will host a panel discussion with Chris Epting, author of "James Died Here," Tony Newhall, former publisher of The Signal Newspaper, and Warren Beath, author of "The Death of James Dean." Arts Advisory Committee to meet

'Kite Runner' essay contest

Students who attend the Literature to Life presentation of "The Kite Runner" Sunday at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at the College of the Canyons will be eligible to enter an essay contest by comparing the performance with the novel. The prizes are $250, $150 and $100 for first, second and third place, respectively. Entries must be submitted by Mar. 13 to the students' English teachers.
