At first I was dismayed when I read in The Signal ("City to woo tourism," May 5) that the city might not be able to hold the Champions Classic golf tournament because AT&T had pulled out as title sponsor along with its $2 million contribution to the event.
But then when The Signal informed me that the tournament brings about $7 million to the city's businesses, the answer became clear. Since businesses make so much from the tournament, we should tax them to raise the $2 million.
