Darkow cartoon disgusting

I see by the Sept. 17 political cartoon in the Opinion section, cartoonist John Darkow works the same way the Democratic Party does. When you cannot dispute the argument, use the race card. It's nothing less than an insult to all Americans. Disgusting.

In the Sept. 21 edition ("Firefighters gear up for hot, dry week"), reporter Jessica Selva seems to have misunderstood her source from the National Weather service. She quotes Stuart Sevo as saying, "Offshore winds generally originate from the ocean, travel over the mountains and settle into the valleys."

Brush fire in Lancaster nears containment

A brush fire burning in Lancaster near Avenue K at 110th Street West was 80 percent contained Saturday, said supervising fire dispatcher Art Marrujo, of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The fire, which broke out Friday afternoon, has burned 80 acres.
