I am shocked and very disappointed you would publish Gary Horton's column ("McKeon: SCV's Marie Antoinette of health care," Sept. 16) about Congressman Howard "Buck" McKeon.
As a product of the William S. Hart School District (Hart High Class of '02), I have never recalled spending an entire class period discussing the accomplishments of Ceser Chavez, Christopher Columbus or even Martin Luther King Jr. on their respective days. This has always been taught in our textbooks, whether mentioned in a section or a whole chapter devoted to the person.
