Board approves permit for Carousel Ranch

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) for Carousel Ranch to provide therapeutic riding programs and equestrian-related activities to developmentally disabled and/or special needs children, according to Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich.

K-12 arts education program rolls out mobile film classrooms

The Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at College of the Canyons, the Mary Pickford Institute and the Found Penny Foundation are teaming up to bring a mobile, state-of-the-art, digital production studio to three local elementary schools during the next six weeks.

Western Filter establishes endowment at COC

The College of the Canyons Foundation has received a donation of more than $13,000 from Western Filter, a division of Donaldson Company, which when combined with matching funds from the Foundation for California Community Colleges (FCCC) will establish a permanent scholarship endowment for students pursuing careers in manufacturing technology at the college.

Sheriff’s Department to receive $1.4M DOJ grant to reduce DNA backlog

To reduce the backlog of sexual assault cases waiting for DNA testing, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved a $1.4 million grant from the U.S. Department of Justice to improve the Sheriff's Department's DNA analysis capacity and the infrastructure of the existing crime laboratory, Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich announced.

Sheriff scores $200K grant to fight intellectual property crimes

To enhance the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's ability to combat intellectual property crimes in the county, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a $200,000 from the United States Department of Justice for the Sheriff's Department's Counterfeit and Piracy Enforcement Team Program (CAPE), according to Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich.
