Two Women on Wine: Thanksgiving wines, part two

Even though we're traditionalist when it comes to Thanksgiving - your basic turkey and all the fixings, pumpkin pie, and a good red wine with dinner, usually a Pinot Noir or Beaujolais Nouveau - we're the first to tell you there's ample opportunity to explore new tastes to complement old favorites on this special day.

Review: 'Planet 51'

The 1950s Hollywood tradition was that an alien spaceship landed on Earth and was surrounded fearfully by military troops. "Planet 51" is true to the tradition, but this time the ship comes from Earth, and it lands on a planet inhabited by little green men. It's still the 1950s, however.

Review: 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon'

The characters in this movie should be arrested for loitering with intent to moan. Never have teenagers been in greater need of a jump-start. Granted, some of them are more than 100 years old, but still: Their charisma is by Madame Tussaud.

Chris S. Jacobsen: Gifts are better to give and to receive

In the current economic times, contributions to charities are lagging. Undoubtedly, some portion of the reduction in charitable donations is a result of the personal financial uncertainty of prospective donors and their diminished willingness to part with their property.

WASHINGTON, D.C.- House Armed Services Committee Ranking Member Howard P. "Buck" McKeon (R-Santa Clarita) today introduced a Resolution of Inquiry to force the Department of Defense to share with the United States House of Representatives any information that refers or relates to the trial or detention of the terrorists responsible for the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. The Obama Administration on Nov 13 announced that the "9/11 co-conspirators" would be brought to New York City and tried in civilian court instead of a war tribunal.

Busting misconceptions about investor perceptions

We all know that perception often influences our decisions, yet we catch ourselves and become reminded that what we perceive isn't always what's really going on. With the constant barrage of information available in today's 24/7 world, it's important to not get caught up in the day-to-day market volatility and news headlines.
