SCV Jaycee voted in as 82nd President of California Jaycees

The California Junior Chamber (California Jaycees) held its annual Election Convention, August 21-23 in Oxnard, California. The weekend's festivities consisted of two separate and equally important elections, which included a special election of the 82nd California State President to serve the remainder of the 2009 term and the election of the 2010 California State President.

City accepting applications for Arts Commission positions

The city of Santa Clarita is encouraging eligible residents to apply for a position on the city's newly-established Arts Commission. Five positions are currently available to be filled. Applicants must be city residents, at least 18 years of age and able to attend Arts Commission meetings, held every third Thursday of the month at 6 p.m.

Strickland legislation earns unanimous support

Kelley Blue Book claims 'Cash for Clunkers' increased new-vehicle purchase consideration

IRVINE, Calif. -- According to the latest Kelley Blue Book kbb.com Market Intelligence Study, the CARS 2009 program, commonly referred to as Cash for Clunkers, was successful in changing in-market car shoppers' consideration set from 'used' to 'new' vehicles. From the program's official inception in July to late August when Cash for Clunkers ended, a significant percentage of in-market car shoppers said they previously considered buying a used vehicle, but now considered buying new (from 12 percent in July to 20 percent in August).
