McChrystal out; Petraeus picked for Afghanistan

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama ousted Gen. Stanley McChrystal as the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan on Wednesday, saying that his scathing published remarks about administration officials undermine civilian control of the military and erode the needed trust on the president's war team.

Health Department reports SCV has low smoking rate

Nearly 11 percent of Santa Clarita residents smoke cigarettes according to a report released by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health Tuesday. Overall about 14 percent of county residents smoke, a rate that has remained steady since 2002, according to the report.
