Closures set for I-5/SR-14 direct HOV connector project

Sylmar/North San Fernando Valley -- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close the following lanes, ramps, and connectors of the Antelope Valley Freeway (SR-14) and the Golden State Freeway (I-5) as part of a $161-million improvement project to construct High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV or carpool) lanes and a direct HOV lane connector at the I-5/SR-14 interchange. Closures are subject to change.

Judge OK's state raid on local redevelopment funds

Ex-NFL star Lawrence Taylor accused of rape in NY

SUFFERN, N.Y. (AP) - Pro Football Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor was arrested Thursday on rape and prostitution charges in an assault on a 16-year-old runaway who police said was brought to his suburban New York City hotel room against her will.

The former New York Giants linebacker was arrested early Thursday at a Holiday Inn in Suffern, said Christopher St. Lawrence, supervisor of the town of Ramapo. The victim was 16, one year below the legal age of consent in New York, St. Lawrence said.

ROME (AP) - Top-ranked Serena Williams dispatched Maria Kirilenko 6-1, 6-4 Thursday, then waited to see if she will meet sister Venus in the Italian Open semifinals.

Venus Williams was up against Jelena Jankovic in a night match of former Rome champions at the Foro Italico.
