GOP is in denial

Sitting at a stop light thinking about the tragedy of 9/11, I noticed the truck in front of me had traded in its "BUSH/CHENEY" sticker for a "O: Worst President Ever" sticker, and it made me chuckle at the irony. It seems like Republicans are twisting themselves into denial knots over their previous golden boy's eight years.

Two named to oversight committee

Hart district board members this week appointed Elizabeth "Betti" Sternberg and Spencer Leafdale to fill two vacancies on the Measure SA Citizens' Oversight Committee. The two local residents were selected out of four applicants who were screened by William S. Hart Union High School District board members, administrators and a member of the public, Carl Goldman. The committee is responsible for reviewing audits and documents related to Measure SA, a $300 million construction bond passed by local voters in 2008.

New appointment at CalArts

Bianca M. Roberts this week was appointed as the vice president and chief advancement officer at the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia. Roberts joined the CalArts faculty on June 1 to work in CalArts development, advancement services and alumni relations programs. In her new role, Roberts will oversee public affairs and the board of trustees functions and serve as the secretary to the board.

Progress reports won’t be mailed

William S. Hart Union High School District students will now carry home hard copy progress reports this year as a way to save money with mailing costs. The first progress report will come home with students on Sept. 24. However, parents may access progress report information online on Sept. 22, through Infinite Campus. Parents can visit www.hartdistrict.org to sign up for Infinite Campus.
