House approves $2B more for 'cash for clunkers'
WASHINGTON, D.C. (AP) - The House voted overwhelmingly Friday to rush $2 billion into the popular but financially strapped "cash for clunkers" car purchase program, heeding calls from consumers eager to keep taking advantage of thousands of dollars in trade-in incentives. House members approved the measure 316-109 within hours of learning from Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood that the program was running out of money.
SCV Allstars perform at Central Park
The SCV Allstars, produced by Pramik Entertainment, is made up of 11 of Santa Clarita's busiest professional musicians. These talented musicians, from our own backyard, have been seen on stage worldwide, in movies and television, on tour with major artists, and heard in countless recordings and commercials. They will be performing for Santa Clarita's Concerts in the Park summer concert series at Central Park this Saturday, Aug. 1, at 7 p.m.

'Who Was That Lady I Saw You With?' and 'Cinderella' being at Canyon Theatre Guild
The Canyon Theatre Guild's 2009-2010 Season begins with the comedy, "Who Was That Lady I Saw You With?" Set in the 1950s, the story centers David Williams, an innocent Columbia University chemistry professor (Michael Keane) who can make liquor as easily as an alchemist can make gold. Unfortunately, his wife, Anne (Kelly Bader) discovers him kissing a female student.

Movie Review: 'Funny People'
Stand-up comics feel compelled to make you laugh. They're like an obnoxious uncle, with better material. The competition is so fierce these days that most of them are pretty good. I laugh a lot. But unlike my feelings for Catherine Keener, for example, I don't find myself wishing they were my friends. I suspect they're laughing on the outside but gnashing their teeth on the inside.
