Newhall Community Center boxer wins Golden Glove championship

The city's Newhall Community Center has officially trained another award-winning boxer. Mayte Razo, 20, took home the 2009 Southern California District Golden Gloves title in the girls' 125-pound novice weight division. Commuter alert: I-5, Highway 14 lanes to close through Friday

Living history: Heritage Junction

Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society docents led tours of the Saugus Train Station, the Kingsley House, the Edison House, a one-room schoolhouse, a tiny chapel and the Mitchell Adobe. Students dressed as children did in the past, the girls in pinafores and the boys in suspenders and caps. The field trip was the culmination of a "living history" unit, and all costs were paid for by a grant from Azusa Pacific College and the Southern California Historical Society.
