Midwinter revelry with Master Chorale
It was an evening of royalty and revelry as nearly 200 knights, ladies and courtiers joined the Santa Clarita Master Chorale in the Grand Ballroom of the Hyatt Valencia for the Fourth Annual Midwinter Madrigal Feast.
Revisiting Colonial times
Students learned about how everyday people lived more than 300 years ago for the Colonial Day event at Wiley Canyon Elementary School on Friday.
AT&T Champions Classic: Team Wayne Levi wins Wednesday Pro-Am match
Champions Tour professional Wayne Levi and his four amateur partners shot a sizzling 18-under-par 54 to take the top honors in today's AT&T Champions Classic Pro-Am, beating the team led by Champions Tour player Dana Quigley by one stroke. Levi's group of Charlie Chase, Shayland Moise, Greg Brown and Michael Friend were part of the afternoon flight, while Quigley's group of Kathleen McKeon, Greg Ingino, Michael Hoyal and Louis Chen were part of the morning session.
Pancake breakfast fundraiser
The LSS Community Care Center hosts their 2nd Annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, April 25 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 27265 Luther Dr., Canyon Country 91351. All-you-can-eat breakfasts are $5.00 each for adults and $3.00 each for kids.

AT&T Champions Classic: Watson set to defend crown
Denis Watson said he drove from Valencia Country Club last March after Saturday's round "frustrated." He was seven shots back and standing in 20th place. Brad Bryant was in the lead at -7, holding a two-shot advantage over five players with 18 holes to play.
Local culinary student qualifies for national competition
Ava Bardsley, a student in the Hart School District Regional Occupational Program's Advanced Culinary class, is one only 10 students selected out of 800 applicants nationwide to compete in the Johnson & Wales University Chef of the Year competition.
'Into the Pixel' 2009 submissions open
The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences and the Entertainment Software Association announced today that submissions for the annual Into the Pixel art exhibition are open for the 2009 exhibit. Now in its sixth year, this is the only juried digital art exhibition that brings together experts from the fine art world and the interactive entertainment industry.
COC receives $10,000 for scholarships
The Jack Oakie and Victoria Horne Charitable Foundation has awarded the Fine and Performing Arts Division at College of the Canyons $10,000 which will be distributed to as many as ten students as scholarship awards in the amount of $1,000 each. The scholarships will be awarded in spring 2009 to students studying Theatre, Dance, Music and Fine Arts at the college.
Obama OKs 'imperfect' spending bill, with earmarks
WASHINGTON (AP) - Calling it an "imperfect" bill, President Barack Obama signed a $410 billion spending package Wednesday that includes billions in earmarks like those he promised to curb in last year's campaign. He insisted the bill must signal an "end to the old way of doing business." The massive measure supporting federal agencies through the fall contains nearly 8,000 pet projects, earmarked by sponsors though denounced by critics.
