Get ready for a full mailbox. California election officials have started mailing out voter pamphlets and sample ballots for the May 19 special election. The secretary of state's office on Thursday began sending pamphlets containing analyses and arguments for and against the six budget-related propositions on the ballot. Free pit bull spaying and neutering

The AngelDogs Foundation offers free spaying and neutering for American pit bulls and pit mixes today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Villalobos Rescue Center, 36220 Anthony Road, Agua Dulce. The free services are limited to the first 30 owners to reserve a spot. Also included: free microchip and rabies shots, a free training workshop, one-on-one assistance for owners and their dogs, and music and refreshments.
