Woman in serious condition after crash

A Valencia woman remained in serious condition Tuesday at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital after suffering injuries from a McBean Parkway car crash earlier this week, hospital officials said.

Man arrested for allegedly striking his grandmother

A Saugus man was arrested earlier this week after he allegedly assaulted his 83-year-old grandmother, authorities said. The 33-year-old man allegedly hit his grandmother several times, picked her up and threw her against a chair and pinned her down with a bench pressed against her chest during an argument about the cleanliness of their home, Lt. Brenda Cambra of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station said in an email.

Magnitude-1.7 temblor rolls through SCV

A 1.7-magnitude earthquake rolled through the SCV just after 1 p.m. Tuesday. The quake's epicenter was about four miles away from Castaic Lake Dam, and seven miles away from Saugus, according to the U.S. Geological Survey website.
