No doubts about Castaic's future

As election day approaches, I find the need to inform the Castaic community, which I love so dearly, as to what I think is best for the Castaic Union School District. I have served on the Castaic school board for the past eight years and am presently honored to be president as I was in 2007. I also served on the Castaic Town Council from 2001 through 2008. A council member cannot serve more than two consecutive terms and that is the reason I am no longer serving in that capacity.

What qualifies Colley for water board?

This is an alert to all voters of the Newhall County Water District. Kathryn Colley is not, in my opinion, a viable candidate for director on the district board. She has shown no interest in the water district prior to this election and still does not attend any meetings, even during the campaign. She also did not show up for a candidate forum.

The SCV's most interesting man

I always wondered who was the inspiration for the Dos Equis "Most Interesting Man in the World" commercials and then it hit me - Alan Barbakow!

Thoughts on The Signal's Web site

I am a digital media student and I have followed The Signal for a long time. The photos are getting better in The Signal, but I think you should update the fonts on the Web site. The title and the symbol of the eagle are a poor design.

Berger, MacGregor the way to go for COC

The upcoming Nov. 3 Board of Trustees election for the Santa Clarita Community College District, specifically, College of the Canyons, is made all the more critical given the current status of the California and national economy.

Join me and vote for Joe Messina

I've been watching and waiting for the past decade as the William S. Hart Union High School District failed time and again to deliver on its promise to build a much-needed high school in Castaic. This Nov. 3, we have an opportunity to end the waiting by electing

The best picks for the Hart district

The election for the William S. Hart Union High School District board is important. While not the largest operating budget in the Santa Clarita Valley anymore, the Hart district is the largest employer (excepting Six Flags Magic Mountain during the summer season) for the valley.

What are you dressing up as for Halloween?

First Place A velvet pitch-black coat gleaming with red spiders scattered all down the front, back and arms. An elegant but creepy top hat with stocky black roses sticking out the side, and rough black tulle wrapped around and draping down the beautiful hat. A silky black satin dress that laces up the front with a sparkling red ribbon. Sounds cool right? Well I'm glad you think so because that is what I'm going to ...

On Nov. 3, vote Koegle and Messina

Sometimes you've just got to go with the candidates that you know best, and that is why I am voting Brian Koegle for College of the Canyons' governing board and Joe Messina for the William S. Hart Union High School District board. I understand what Koegle and Messina bring to the prospective offices they are running for.

We can't do better than Joan MacGregor

I have had the opportunity and privilege to serve with and sit beside Joan MacGregor on the College of the Canyons Board of Trustees for the past 12 years. During that time, the college has grown into a major force in our community and has become one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the nation. Much of that can be attributed to the leadership of Chancellor Dianne Van Hook. But it is also due to ...
