Everlasting gratitude to - The Heroine of my Childhood

September the first, 1939 is my own day that will forever live in infamy. I was 12 years old. Thousands of London school children had boarded trains in a mass exodus. It would be a weekend in the country – or so we had been told. Alas, the whole world soon knew that two days later we were at war and there was no returning to our homes for the foreseeable future.

Pawfect Barking Picnic

The first ever Barking Picnic hosted by the Barking Flowers of the Mountain Communities was pawtastic. On Saturday, March 22 over 100 people attended the picnic in Frazier Park. The Barking Flowers hosted this event to raise awareness and funds for the Dogs on Deployment program (a 501(c)(3) national non-profit which provides an online network for service members to search for volunteers who are willing to board their pets during their owner's service commitments).

Phil Lantis talks about art in SCV at ARTree meeting

Like many of us here in Santa Clarita, Phil Lantis was born and educated somewhere else. A farm in a small Oregon town was his home, and he studied film at State University of New York in Purchase, which, according to census data, has just over 27,000 people. That makes Santa Clarita a metropolis by comparison, but Lantis's small town background is a good fit for staging art and events in this growing community.
