City accepting applications for commission, panel seats

The city of Santa Clarita and the Redevelopment Agency of the city of Santa Clarita is encouraging residents to apply for a position on the Planning Commission, Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission, the Arts Commission or the Open Space Preservation District Financial Accountability Audit Panel (FAAP).

More than $32,000 raised for cancer victims

The SCV Jaycees, the local chapter of Junior Chamber International, raised $32,850 on Saturday for The Brenda Mehling Cancer Fund at the groups ninth annual 5k fundraiser. A total of 378 runners participated in the event, according to a news release. The Brenda Meling Cancer Fund provides home health care service and money for rent and insurance to people 18- to 40-years-old undergoing cancer treatment.
