The inconvenient truth for Horton

Gary Horton's opinion column "Don't fall for fabricated horn stories" (July 28) claims that ignorance and bigotry persist in America; he is certainly correct. However, he missed some important facts when he used Shirley Sherrod's video speech to the NAACP.

Reading from a different page

I assume I receive a different version of The Signal than Carole Lutness ("Public libraries should stay public," July 26). I re-read my version regarding the city of Santa Clarita's setting up a committee to look into taking over the local libraries, which are a cash cow for the county (using our tax dollars to support libraries in other areas in Los Angeles County where revenues are less).
