I support the creation of a new tax to help us crawl out of this financial abyss we are in. Let's call this "The Inflated Value Tax," a tax on those that have charming looks, smooth talk but are not required to produce any results.

What a pleasant surprise to learn that the city's new libraries are all open Sundays, and the Canyon Country library now opens at 9 a.m. weekdays instead of 10 a.m. I also just learned that the city takeover of our three libraries in Santa Clarita came with Sunday hours, too.
I don't talk much about geopolitics in these columns, though I do read the Economist cover to cover each week and consider myself fairly well informed about events world-wide, but I like to bring them into play here when they match up with local events.
