Yes I Can students seek Summer Meltdown sponsors

Student concert promoters from the Hart district's Yes I Can social-inclusion program have put out the call for sponsors to help fund the students' seventh annual "Summer Meltdown Autism Awareness and Social-Inclusion Concert."

"We need the support of the community, because we're doing something groundbreaking here - using music to break down social barriers," said Bret Lieberman, Yes I Can program advisor at Golden Valley High School. "We're like the 'School of Rock' meets concert production meets autism awareness."

Review: 'Crazy Heart'

Some actors are blessed. Jeff Bridges is one of them. Ever since his first starring role in "The Last Picture Show" in 1971, he has, seemingly without effort, created a series of characters who we simply believe, even the alien "Starman." Review: 'Dear John'

Lasse Hallstrom's "Dear John" tells the heartbreaking story of two lovely young people who fail to find happiness together because they're trapped in an adaptation of a Nicholas Sparks novel. Their romance leads to bittersweet loss that's so softened by the sweet characters that it feels like triumph. If a Sparks story ended in happiness, the characters might be disappointed. They seem to have their noble, resigned dialogue already written. Hemingway wrote one line that could substitute for the third act of every Sparks story: "Isn't it pretty to think so?"

Disney's smash hit "High School Musical 2" will come to life on the CTG stage this Saturday night. The East High gang will all be there for an action-packed extravaganza as Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay and the rest of the Wildcats finish their junior year and blast onto the summer scene. They all get jobs at the Lava Springs Country Club, where Sharpay reigns supreme since her dad owns the country club.
