Social Security cuts hurt

Perhaps I missed a few issues of The Signal. However, I was so unprepared for the letter I received in yesterday's mail from Social Security in regards to lowering my SSI checks by $35. It may not seem like to much to most, but I have cut most of my prescription costs by taking them every other day. A new flock of Eagle Scouts

Boy Scout Troop 609 of Newhall recently celebrated the advancement of four of its members to Eagle Scout. John Morris, Gabriel Sayegh, Jr., Michael Morris and Neil Subbarao, all William S. Hart High School students, or former students, were awarded the rank of Eagle, the highest rank achievable in the Boy Scouts. The ceremony was attended by friends, family and fellow troop members.

Hoedown at Tesoro open to public

Tesoro Adobe Historical Park and the Santa Clarita Artists' Association will host a western-style hoedown noon to 4 p.m. May 30. The public can enjoy festivities, music, view artwork, and potluck nibbles from as well as a free tour of the museum. Guest of honor will be cowboy movie star Harry Carey Jr. Harry Jr. A juried art show, themed Wild West Artists, will be held.
