SummerSlam Reading Jam at Valencia Library
As part of a nationwide summer reading program known as SummerSlam Reading Jam, the Valencia Library will award a poster featuring World Wrestling Entertainment Superstars Rey Mysterio, Evan Bourne, Beth Phoenix and Eve to the first 25 youngsters ages 10 to 18 who check out two books.
COC Foundation receives grant
The College of the Canyons Foundation received a two-year $50,000 grant from the James Irvine Foundation to support an expansion in multicultural programming and outreach efforts to attract Latinos and Spanish-speaking populations in Santa Clarita by offering relevant, multicultural programming at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center.

Grace Baptist Church in Santa Clarita recently hosted nearly 1,400 kids from kindergarten through sixth grades for its vacation Bible school, themed "SonQuest Rainforest." It was the church's biggest vacation Bible school ever, according to Pastor Mike Gaston.

It seems like spring in the Santa Clarita Valley! The calendar officially still says winter, but this past week has been very "spring-like." There was some awesome kite-flying weather with the sunshine and the wind (a little too much wind on some days!) and it was easy to ditch the heavy jackets in favor of short sleeves and shorts.
