Angeles Forest roads to close for weekend due to storm

Angeles Forest Highway, Big Tujunga Canyon Road, and Upper Big Tujunga Canyon Road, will be closed to all traffic except emergency vehicles and county personnel beginning on Friday, Dec. 11 at 11:59 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works.

Zonta awards $7,000 in grants to Virginia Wrage recipients

Zonta Club of Santa Clarita Valley honored four women this week with Virginia Wrage Memorial grants totaling $7,000. The grants are given to mature women who face life-changing situations and need some help to become self-sufficient again.

McKeon, Republicans unveil job training reform package

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Led by Reps. Howard P. "Buck" McKeon (R-CA) and Brett Guthrie (R-KY), Republicans on the U.S. House Education and Labor Committee have introduced the Workforce Investment Improvement Act (H.R. 4271), a bill to strengthen job training opportunities for workers and job seekers.

Review: 'Invictus'

Morgan Freeman has been linked to one biopic of Nelson Mandela or another for at least 10 years. Strange that the only one to be made centers on the South African rugby team. The posters for Clint Eastwood's "Invictus" feature Matt Damon in the foreground, with Freeman looming behind him in shadowy nobility. I can imagine marketing meetings during which it was lamented that few Americans care much about Mandela and Matt Damon appeals to a younger demographic.
