MADD recognizes 2 SCV sheriff's deputies

The Los Angeles regional branch of Mothers Against Drunk Drivers held its 2010 awards ceremony on Thursday, and two Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station deputies were recognized for their contribution to keeping drunk drivers off of the roadways in the SCV.

Arenas to spend 30 days in halfway house

WASHINGTON, D.C. (AP) -- A judge has ordered suspended Washington Wizards star Gilbert Arenas to spend 30 days in a halfway house on gun charges stemming from a locker-room confrontation with a teammate.

Prosecutors had recommended that Arenas serve three months in jail. Defense attorneys argued Arenas didn't deserve jail time for what they described as a misguided prank on teammate Javaris Crittenton.

Wolf Creek benefits the Wolf Connection this weekend

Wolf Creek Restaurant & Brewery of Valencia is partnering with the Wolf Connection (a wolf and wolf-hybrid rescue) to raise money and awareness for them. They are bringing some of the rescued animals (that are tame and trained) to Wolf Creek's patio this weekend. Wolf Creek will donate 15 percent of its total weekend's sales to the organization.

Railfest 2010

The Santa Clara River Valley Railroad Historical Society (SCRVRHS) will present its 15th annual Railfest this Saturday and Sunday, March 27 and 28, and the society's director, Jim Mendrala, emphasized that "This year's Railfest theme is 'Trains - Fun for All Ages.'" The Railfest has become a regional event in the Santa Clara River Valley, with the center of activities at Central Park in Fillmore.
